Gaining knowledge through interaction is the greatest privilege

SATKF's goals are to interact and train with all Traditional Karate-ka and Budo practitioners in South Africa and throughout the World.

We as members of ITKF we regularly attend the annual ITKF week long camp and also train throughout the world with Traditional Karate and Budo masters.

These leading instructors that we train with have had their basic training gained Budo Knowledge under Traditional Karate Masters like Masters

Gichin Funakoshi, Masatoshi Nakayama ,Hidetaka Nishiyama and many more.

Budo "Japanese Martial Arts" knowledge of technique, strategy and tactics has been  passed on by Japanese and Okinawa Masters for centuries.

Budo principles

Taken from one art

to another to improve

ability in all forms of

Self defence

Master Nishiyama studied Kendo from a famous Japanese Master Mochida Moorio and gained

invaluable knowledge which he has incorporated

into his Traditional Karate

teachings.

Traditional Karate has been taken to a great level of expertise through the introduction of  Footwork “ Unsoku “  by Sensei Nishiyama

at the 2007 ITKF camp, this was the culmination of his 30 years of Budo / Kendo study of the variety of Unsoku used especially in

Kendo and Kenjutsu. With certain footwork, more power is generated off the floor into technique.
We as students of Sensei were privileged to beable to gain this knowledge, taking our Traditional Karate to greater level of efficiency and expertise. Sensei study of footwork lead him to become a leading master in this field. This was again taught at the 2009 ITKF camp by Master Hiroshi Shirai teaching this Unsoku especially Okuri-ashi “sending foot”
This knowledge of this footwork has been passed down over centuries by the Samurai swordsmen which  they studied in depth and mastering. Superior footwork was the difference between life and death and even in today’s day and age is also applied in sometimes life threatening situations.  As Sensei explained is a major contribution in the success in most sports.

Sensei Chris Mance / National  Coach , SA TKF regularly trains overseas and in South Africa with the following Masters, to share knowledge and expertise with  Traditional Karate-ka through-out South Africa
